8/15 — Current Updates

Ride Around Puget Sound volunteers are in our final frenzy of organizing this month. We have marked the route, ordered food, confirmed the porta potties and asked for warm showers (not cold ones at 2 A.M.) at Shelton High School.

Thanks to rider comments and road construction (of course!) we have some new routing we think you will like this year. On day one, you'll approach the first rest stop on the Kitsap Penninsula via Long Lake rather than the Southworth Ferry. On day two, rather than hopping on and off I-5 on your bicycle, we take you up a hill (always a trade-off) and through some quiet neighborhood streets in Dupont.

Please tell your friend about RAPSody. It Is a great way to see the south Puget Sound and enjoy fellow cyclists without feeling crowded.

Team Survivor Northwest will be using RAPSody as one of their "epic" events this year. Team Survivor provides women in any stage of cancer treatment or recovery with fitness training and goals that contribute to ongoing physical and emotional healing. RAPSody has always had above average participation by women — women who are above average, of course. So this should be a great fit.

If you know any women cancer survivors, please let them know about this program, and about RAPSody.

Of course, we want all new riders to know that RAPSody is a challenging ride. Start training now with longer rides (working up to 50 mile days by July) and add in hills along the way.

RAPSody flyers will hit the streets in March — first at the Seattle Bike Expo, and soon at a bike shop near you.
